Running Wild

Micheal Morpurgo is an author who likes to include animals in his story. Most of the time, they are animals that are endangered and there is a message.

This book begins with some unfortunate events delivered to a nine-year old boy- Will. Before, Will was probably the most happiest child in the world. He had loving parents, caring friends and understanding grandparents who owns a farm where Will adored. The first bad news was that his father, who went to war in Iraq, was killed in action. This lead to the death of his mother. His grandma decided to send Will and his mother to Indonesia (his mothers birth place) to settle themselves down. While Will was riding an elephant (Oona), Oona raced into the jungle without any hestitation. She had a valid reason. A tsunami had reached the coasts of Indonesia on Boxing Day 2004. Unfortunately, Wills mother was drowned in the sea. Will had a new experience in the jungle. With leeches feeding on his blood and insects crawling around him, it was impossible to sleep. Plus, all sorts of sounds were heard from every creature. Luckily, Will was an optimistic child and believed that his mother survived the tsunami. However, in reality, the heart breaking news were true. She was dead. He was an orphan. But he did not know that. His only family was Oona, the elephant that saved his life. It took a while for Will to get used to the noise, the pests and Oona doing what pleases her. Oona had her own way of communicating- that was through the eyes and her gas. Together, they had many adventures such as: the time when hunters came and shot orang-utans and tiger and kidnapped Will and a few new born orang-utans. They were treated like rubbish. They were dragged, put in cages and thrown all over the place. Mister Anthony (the one who was responsible), wanted to murder Will because he knew too many things. If Will escaped, Anthony would be in prison. With the help of Kaya, a cook, he and the orang-utans escaped successfully. Soon, Will found a woman who sheltered orang-utans in the rainforest. She seemed to know everything about Will- even his name! Finally, she told him his story. His Grandparents searched for Will all over the rainforest. The woman met them and heard their story. As soon as she saw Will, she knew Will was the poor boy known all over the world. When his grandparents arrive to take Will back, he rejects and says that the rainforest is his home. They all stay in Indonesia in unison.

This story is a true story. There was a tsunami in Indonesia at this time and there was a war in Iraq. It was the womans idea to publish this story. Will agreed. Therefore this story is now told to us. This story is a touching story. Again, it conveys a message to stop destroying nature.

The Star of Kazan

The star of kazan is an adventrous sotry which contains betray, revenge, lies and happiness-many feelings that you can feel. Annika is an orphan found in a temple. She is raised by 2 maids and 3 posh professofs. Unexpectedly, her 'mother' showed up and raises her. The professors were not that pleased with the situation because Annika was such a great student with manners and a strong and a caring heart. It turns out that Edeltraut, her 'mother', isn't Annika's birth mother. However, Edeltraut kept denying that she was. The reason was because of something no-one can refuse. Money. Annika's 'family' was rapidy running out of money and had alot of cash they owed. They were desperate. As a result, Annika returns to Vienna. In Vienna, she faces another problem. The Eggharts. They had a ill aunt. But no Egghart wanted to company their aunt. They were 'busy'. The Eggharts had a little girl. Therefore, she was to tell her aunt stories, eat with her and company her. The spoilt girl decided that Annika would instead. So everyday she went. One day, their aunt had a sudden death. In her will, it said that some jewels would go to Annika. Mrs Egghart disagreed. The girl shrieked with disagreement. Mr Egghart allowed it. They quarrelled for a long time. Finally, there was an end.

"But this was an Egghart, whose voice as he yelled at his wife and child could make the pigeons fly up from the rooftops. The man can make horses kneel"

This is a quotation that I favour. Because this suggests that the Eggharts are in such a high position that they could make anything obey their commands.

MED HEAD- medicine head

This is a biography on a little boy called Cory Friedman who sufferes from a hyperactive disease and it cannot be treated. Near to the start of the book, Cory went to see the doctor and gets locked up in the mental institutes. His parents protest at the hospital until he could be released. This story is a true, sad and touching book, as it describes how life is like being hyperactive no matter how hard he tries to cure it, the symtoms keep coming. Because of this illness, he has to live his life on drugs and medicine. All this medicines helps him to control is body, but also puts on weight. Since he is eating so much medication, his weight increases massively. At school, people always laugh at him as he cannot control himself in class and his behavior is completly absurb. Soon, he finds himself also talking nonsense to his parents and doing annoying things. Due to his non-stop determination, he managed to cure this illness, without the help of any medication.

Book review for - Small Steps- by louis sachar

The book small steps involves two of the characters from louis sachar's previous book- Holes ( armpit and x-ray) Armpit's pay was low, so he wanted to earn more money. X-ray then thought of many ways for him to earn money. One of the ideas was buying the ticket of The world reknowned singer, kiara- de lion's concert. After they bought the tickets, they sold them for a higher price. Armpit wanted the last two tickets to bring his friend, who had some mental problem, to the concert but x-ray promised to sell it already. In the end, X-ray gabve armpit fake tickets and did not even let him know. when they reached the concert, other people accused them that they had fake tickets and armpit got arrested. That was when his friend went crazy. No one but armpit could control her so they had to uncuff him and let him help her. The famous singer arrived and took pity on them and let them watched the concert from the back stage. After the concert, Armpit and his friend ginny got to meet and talk tho kiara. Kiara and Armpit met each other for several times and they started dating. One day when they were dating in paris, they broke up. Kiara went back to her hotel room and her own step-father tried to kill her to gain all her money. then her bodyguard tried to save her but he got killed. While kiara was unconcious, h er stepfather tried to kill her but armpit saved her life and stabbed her step father back until he was unconcious too. Later he called the police and made up together with her.

Nicholas the Kid

This story is aout a French kid named Nicholas who always mess around with his family and friends.One of my favourite chapter is when his family finally get a new telivision. His dad ordered an old television for his family, they had a talk about which chanel in the TV they should watch, but then Nicholas family got into a fight. His dad wants to watch football but his mum wants to watch the cooking show and Nicholas wants to watch cowboy where all his mates watch when they usually get toghther. When the delivery van came, the man brought the television through the pass, Nicholas' dad were shouting at their neighbour at the other side of the road showing the new television. Although when the delivery man got into the house, his parents got a fight about where they should put the television. Finally, they decided to put the television on the coffee table. They turned on the TV but there was no signal! The man said he'll get back to them with a signal thing! Two hours later the man came back to put on the signal, he was really supprise that Nicholas' family returned the television back to the company. Everyone was happy because now they dont have to get in a fight for who should watch the Tv first. Except form the delivery man, his face were very supprise also he was very angry.
