INKDEATH

Mo is now stuck as the legendary Bluejay. But no bad news to Mortimer Folchart. He is enjoying the new role. However, Meggie and Resa are not happy about this. They believe that this new role is changing Mo, the kind and warmhearted bookbinder, into the actual Bluejay- cunning, fearless and daring. Farid still longs for Dustfinger so is still working for Orpheus. Orpheus, also known as four-eyes, is changing this world. He claimes that he is a prince who can do magic. He reads in unicorns for wealth, rainbow fairies and all sorts of silly creatures. One night, Resa goes to Orpheus, believing that he would read them all home. In return, Orpheus wants Mo to summon the White Women since he was close to death when the "Magpie" shot him. He also wants to do this so that he could bring his favourite Inkworld character back to life. Guess who? Dustfinger. Resa refuses and goes home, furious. Farid goes to Mo and pleads him to agree to this. Mo does. He summons the White Women and makes a bargain. If Death releases Dustfinger and Mo, Mo will have to put an end to what he started. Write the 3 magical words and get rid of immortality in the Inkworld. If he fails, his own life will have it's end. But not only him. But Meggie as well since she helped him make the White book. Meggie is furious in the Inkworld, he believes that Mo is dead! He hasn't returned for 3 days! She blames this on Faird and Resa so she breaks up with Farid. Instead, her heart beats real fast for someone else, Doria- one of the robbers. Mo returns afterall but Meggie still doesn' forgive Resa and Farid. But Mo is not alone trying to kill the Adderhead. Or is that a good thing? Japoco's mother, Cosimo the Fair's widow and the Adderhead's very own daughter allies with Mo. Violante, a.k.a: Her Ugliness. Violante and her army of young boys join forces with Mortimer and set off to the Lake Castle, where her mother was born and stayed for ages before her father 'freed her'. Their plan was to announce that she had caught the Bluejay for adderhead to kill him, then he would bring his book along. Mo will write the 3 words in and success! Actually, it wasn't that easy. Japoco played the true hero in this episode, without him, Mo wouldn't have ever written the 3 words. THey succed and Violante became the new leader of Ombra. Also, Fenoglio discovered that Doria was one of his growmn up characters. He was an inventor and he invented flying machines and a typewriter for a close bookbinder. Plus, his wife came from far away. It was too much of a coincidence! The Folcharts and Elinor decide to stay in the Inkworld afterall with their son. The new Folchart, however, longed to see the lights in the streets and the aeroplanes in "our" world.

Inkdeath is the stunning conclusion to the trilogy. I have enjoyed this series although I would have preferred less adults taking the action and the main roles. Apart from that, I am glad that the miserable and complicated lives of the Folcharts are over.

Granny by Anthony Horowitz

The Wardens are a very wealthy and what looks like a happy family. Mr Warden smokes cigars 8 inches long, drinks champagne like lemonade and his job is most likely illegal because he always jumps into bushes to avoid policemen and wears a false mustache. Mrs Warden never went to school in her whole life and has piano lessons, tennis lessons, horse riding lessons, cooking lessons, escapology lessons and trapeze lessons to amuse herself. Their only son, Jordan Morgan Warden, who likes to call himself Joe does not like being rich and dreams of escaping his house to be a trapeze artist in a circuses, joining the Royal air force etc. The Wardens have 2 servants, 1 nanny and 1 gardener.

But the only part of the family who does not live with them is Joe's Granny. Not Grandmother or Grandma, just Granny and somehow it suited her. She had not been called anything else since she was 60. She was very short, had wiry silver hair, was very stingy and had table manners that would make a cannibal sick. Joe once wore her spectacles for fun and was still banging into walls 3 weeks later. She is very mean to Joe and has a nasty habit of embarrassing him during Christmas by giving him baby toys.
One day, when Joe's parents were on a trip and left Joe's granny to babysit ( Joe's nanny got eaten alive by dogs, his servants were on a holiday and his gardener got blown up ), he's granny brought him to Bideford to attend the Golden Granny Awards at a hotel. But during the awards he finds himself captured and and strapped to the Grannymatic Enzyme Extracter. He manages to escape ( blowing up the hotel in his effort ) and return home with Granny who unfortunately survived. A few days later, because Granny's trick went wrong and the whole Warden family thought she died and was now a ghost, Joe and his family moved to Australia. 2 years later Granny really did die. But deep in the Australian desert the Aborigines gather around a huge campfire and the didgeridoos throbs and wails through the darkness. If the magic is working they see an old woman walking around them with a scowl on her face. It is Granny. Looking for Joe. But she still hasn't found him yet.

This book is very amusing and exiting.

Saturday Girl (Book review #4)

When Suzanne walks into her new Saturday job, her heart sinks. The junior stylist in the salon is none other than Karenna Sheldon, the Karenna Sheldon who made Suzanne’s life miserable a few years back. Since then things have changed – the school has a new headteacher, who takes a much firmer line on bullying, for a start – but the second she saw Karenna, the confident 16 year old Suzanne became the nervous 12 year old she use to be.
In addition to bullying, this book touches on domestic violence, binge drinking and even teenage pregnancy! That’s quite a lot of grief and drama to fit into only a few pages, and because of this most of these themes get only the briefest of mentions which is a bit odd for a book aimed at teenagers. The topics are quite serious, but the story stays light because of Suzanne’s humour and insight into her situation.
The story doesn’t really go anywhere, and it’s much more about looking back than looking forward, but I did warm to the characters, and found it a very quick, easy read. It did seem a bit more like an extended short story than an intentional novel though. I don't think it is a type of book that you could read again and again.

White Fang Jack London
In the Northland, nineteenth century gold rush many people charged to that location to find gold.
Unfortunately human are not the only living things here. Much of this land is full of wolves.

The story starts with a pack of wolves enduring a famine. The front of the pack contains mostly the middle aged and the back is either the very old or the very young. After a few weeks, the famine ends. The pack then splits into half. The first half was leaded by a one eyed leader, a young leader and a reddish wolf-dog ( a hybrid, bred by native indians who named her Kiche ) and the other half were led by the rest of the leaders. But two by two wolves begin to desert. Soon all that was left of the first pack was the old one-eye, the young leader, Kiche and an three year old wolf. Soon even the three year old and the young leader are killed during mating season.

A few months later, Kiche and the old one-eye give birth to a set of cubs. Soon, another famine arrives and only Kiche and one cub remained ( in case you're wondering about what happened to the old one-eye he was killed by a lynx ). Soon afterwards, they are captured by indians and the cub, who was called White Fang by the native indians, is tormented by dogs ( they sure seem to have ran out of luck ).

Years later, White Fang was bought by an englishman nicknamed Beauty Smith ( he was no beauty ). White Fang was turned into a fighting dog for his famed skill in killing dogs in mostly three minutes and was cruelly treated until bought by another man named Weedon Scott who wanted him for a sled-dog. White Fang then lived a peaceful life until he was half killed by a criminal.

This book is exiting, interesting and amusing. I hope this blog is not too long.

DRACULA Bram Stoker

The story begins when a man named Jonathan Harker is sent to Castle Dracula, Transylvania
to help the count who lives there, Count Dracula ( No one knows he is a vampire yet ) to move to England. At first Jonathan suspects nothing and continues his work there but as time passes he begins to notice some strange things. For example : the Count does not eat, he does not have a shadow, in a room in his castle there are some horrible women who want Jonathan's blood and Jonathan cannot see the Count in his mirror even though he is standing right beside him. One day, Jonathan finds himself locked in the castle while the Count leaves for England along with his 50 coffins filled with earth from Transylvania. Jonathan decides to climb over the walls to escape the castle.

Meanwhile in England, strange things are starting to happen. A ship arrives in England with the captain and all his crew dead, wolves escape from the zoo, bats are starting to appear, people have been found in graveyards with holes on their necks and a woman named Lucy Westera, who is a friend of Jonathan's wife has been found dead. A few days later, Jonathan was found in a hospital because of brain problems and concussion. When he awakens he found out that Count Dracula has arrived in England and is slowly making an army of vampires. He and his friends Doctor Abraham Van Helsing, Arthur Holmwood (Lord Godalming), Mr Quincey Morris, Dr John Sewards and his wife Mina Murrey set out to hunt down both vampires and the Counts coffins which are needed for him to rest during daytime.

After a few weeks they managed to destroy all Counts coffin save one, forcing the Count to flee back to Transylvania. After tracking him down they managed to kill the Count by stabbing him in his heart and cutting of his head.

This book is quite enjoyable but the only problem is that the whole story is made out of diaries, letters, journals and memorandums.

Chicken Little is a normal kid who goes to school, but he's always bullied. His only friends are Abby, Runt, and Fish.
Chicken little said that a piece of sky, that looked like a stop sign has fallen onto his head, but Chicken Little's dad said that it might have just been an acorn.
The piece of sky fell into Chicken Little's bedroom (but it was actually a piece missing from the invisible UFO) The aliens got Chicken Little's friend Fish. So Abby, Runt and Chicken Little went to look for Fish. They found him in the UFO and quickly ran out. The aliens chased them and thought they have their kid but actually they don't. The aliens destroyed Oakey Oaks because, they want their child back. Chicken Little stopped them from destroying Oakey Oaks and gave the aliens back their child.
Chicken Little became Oakey Oaks hero! :)

Matilda :)

Author: Ronald Dahl
Pages:147

Matilda is one of my favorite books to read. Matilda is a 5 and a half year old child and truly gifted. She taught her self how to read when she was just 3 years old but all she read was old newspapers and magazines. When she got older she asked her dad for a real book, but one thing you don't know about Matilda's family that they don't care about her even when she was born. Mr.Wormwood is Matilda's father and Mrs.Wormwood is her mom. When Matilda got older she told her parents that she wanted to go to school so they listened to her for once and let her but Matilda discovered a lot of new stuff. Its much better if you read it ;P

Just In Case

This book starts off with a really weird and random start. First, there is this boy called David Case, he is 15 years old. David has this baby brother named Charlie...who wanted to fly. So when he started, he tipped off and hung by his David's bedroom window. He saves his baby brother by grabbing onto his cape. And just because of that, his whole world changes...every moment of his life are full of "what ifs" David begins to think of fate, and later he starts believing. He believes that he can outwit and outrun fate, or atlease try to. He then changes his name into Justin and he also changes his appearance.David/Justin meets Agnes Day a young woman (although noticeably older than Justin/David) who works in the charity shop where he buys his new clothes. Later in his life he is starting to suffer number of near death experiences. As his friendship develops with Agnes,he moves in with her. After one of his near death experiences, David/Justin begins to fall in love with Agnes. But soon realized that she only loved him because of another reason. David/Justin then has weird imaginations (e.g his pet greyhound). And that is how the story ends. It is definately a cliff hanger...

I like this book because it's interesting. Not every story is written in this way. And so, that is what makes it so unique. But at the same time, I don't really get the story "fully", however that is why it is different from other books. I am looking forward to the full end of this story (if there is one...). Overal, I enjoyed reading this book. It is my favourite book so far...
its a mall world after all-
pages:230
author: Janette rallison

This is one of my favorite book, its fun to read and i could understand every single word in it. I think its exciting and unpredictable and when i read it, i can create a clear image of what the mall look like, how the characters look, how they are dressed and so on. I also like the front cover :) . The story is briefly about the main character in the book, charlotte who found out that her best friend's boyfriend was cheating on her best friend. When she told her best friend the story, she didn't really believe her so she asked the guy who her best friend introduced her to since her best friend is Briana and her best friend's boy friend's name is Briant and her name is Charlotte and the boy Briana introduce to Charlotte was Colton so all their names start with the same letter :P But trust me, its not as stupid as it sounds :D !

Nicolas - stories haven't been told

Pages:434
Author: Goscinny & Sempe

I chose one of my favorite story in the book(there's a lot of chapters). The story's called "Womens, Girls". Marie-Edwige lives next to Nicolas new house. He can't see her much because her parents Mr and Mrs Courteplauqe is not really friends with Nicolas parents. One day Marie invited Nicolas to come over. At first they played soldiers, they played well together at first. But then Marie starts to annoy Nicolas when she plays competitions games like racing. At the end, they played chess, Nicolas got pissed of letting Marie cheat so he took three steps then and he won. Marie face got SO red and it looks like shes about to cry :|. She called him a cheater and never gonna talk to him again. His mum heard screaming and was waiting for Nicolas at the door. She said" Tisk, men, you guys are all the same."

I like this because its kind of cute at the first, Nicolas like the girl, think shes pretty and all those stuff. Then at the end they got in a fight because Marie didn't win the chess game!!! :P. Then both of them stop talking to each other! LOL. I didn't really get why the title was: Womens, Girls"? I think it could have been "Men,Boys" or something like that. But overall, i liked the book :).

Alex rider:Stormbreaker

Alex rider is a fourteen year old boy wholives with his uncle, he finds out his uncle dies after a car acident. He then finds out that it wasnt a car accident and that his uncle was a spy. The people who were running the spy company then recruited him to a camp. After he was done with his camp he was sent on a mission to infiltrate a guys company which was creating something called The stormbreaker. The machine was not intended for educational purposes but for evil plans
This book was by far the best novel i read since the reading challenge started because the plot of the story was just magnificent and the suspense was very good.

Feeling sorry for Celia

This book is not a storytelling book like other books. This is a book that has letters sent to and letters been recieved from clubs, her stepbrother, her penpal Christina, her mother.
The main charecter Elizabeth has a penpal called Christina, and they discuss about their problems in their life and give advises back. Elizabeth mostly writes about her best friend Celia running away all the time. In the book, Celia runs away 3 times. The 1st time by herself and she joins a cirkus, and she runs away with her boyfriend 2 times. It gets very complicating when Celia and her boyfriend's relatives tries to look for them. Christina mostly talks about the relationship between her and her boyfriend. The things that goes wrong between them is very funny.
Elizabeth's parents are divorsed and she lives with her mother and her father lives with his other family. Her mother is bussy working so she leaves notes at home for Elizabeth to read and i find the notes she wrote very funny. For example if the note is on the fridge, the first sentence on the note is 'Elizabeth! Look over here on the table!! Its a note from your mother!!!'.
Her father sometimes invites her to dinner to a resturant. The father and Elizabeth always don't know what to talk about. They always talk about the wine they're drinking and how it is at her school. Sometimes Elizabeth asks him something about his family like how they are but he never tells her anything about them and he tries to start a ew conversasion.
Once you read this book, you can never stop reading because its so intrestigng know what the person writes to them or writes back.

Dork on the run

Dork on the Run is a exciting and unpredictable book to read by Carol. This book is about a boy who used to be call a dork in his old school. But now when He moved tom his new school, he decided to run for president. But become face-to-face with his bully, Gabe Marshall, who's also running for president when his FAN convinced him. But all Gabe did was taking out Jerry by force and mean tricks. Luckily, Jerry has Brenda McAdams on his side to help him and was his campaign manager.

One day when he was in front of his school before going inside, he met Brenda and his other friends, Kim and Kat, the twin Hensley sisters. They suggested that Jerry should run for president. Then, in his  1st lesson, all of GABE MARSHALL "follower" all insisted him to be president. Jerry, full of embarrassment and feeling of defeated, nearly decided to quit the run. But he eventually went running again when his friends insisted him again along with people they gathered to vote Jerry for president.

Along Jerry's journey, his sister, Melissa, was being push around by a "Cool" 3rd grader she wanted to be friend with because she was 1st grader. Back to school there was a named Zoey, who came from HOLLYWOOD in Jerry's class. But along the journey, Cinnamon, a girl who wanted to be friend with Zoey and was like a girlfriend to Gabe. There was still weeks from the voting day, but to take out his opponent, Gabe took pictures of Jerry's embarrassing moments.

It's voting week, and Gabe still haven't giving up on out take Jerry. But unlucky for Gabe Marshall, Jerry had learn a way to defend himself. Nearly all of Gabe's tricks turn from offensive, to defensive for Jerry. But right before the speech, Gabe had done something bad to Jerry. Will that turn one, or even more votes down for Jerry. Read the book to find out.

I think this book is very entertaining. But this book is also has a various type of personality and I was very enjoy to understand them. Like Jerry, even though he is bullied all the time, he wouldn't report this violence attack from a bully. I would recommend that you should read this book.

INKSPELL

Dustfinger finally manages to return to the Inkworld and reunites with his family- Roxane and Brianna. He also reunites with his other nonhuman family- fire. Fire dances for him again and only do so in the INkworld. However, his young apprentice Farid is left behind in our world. He can't stand it without Dustfinger, so he persuades Meggie to read him into the Inkworld. She succeeds but she also brings along the cause of Dustfinger's death in the story- Gwin. Finally, Meggie fulfils her wish to see all the fairies and nymphs and the Laughing Prince in the Inkworld. She knows that her father is missing her at home and she plans to leave as soon as possible. On the other hand, she doesn't know that vicious Basta and the Magpie (Mortola) finds her parents and they are too, brought to the Inkworld. Mortola shoots Mo and he is in terrible danger because of Mortola's loathing for him. Meanwhile, Fenoglio, the "author" of the story (currently in the INkworld) develops poems and stories of the legendary robber, the Bluejay. When the fire raisers see Mo wounded, he think that he is the Bluejay. His scar on his left arm, his height and his dark brown hair all fit the description. Meggie finds out from Fenoglio that the Bluejay isn't real but it is based on a real man- Mo. The Adderhead's men set out to find Mo. Since he is in terrible danger, Meggie reads Fenoglio's words and try to change the story. However, the story no longer belongs to Fenoglio, it has created it's own story. It plays with death. The conclusion to everything. Meggie and Fenoglio try to help Meggie's parents as well as Meggie is falling in love with Faird. When the Adderhead sets Mo free, the Black Prince's men (including Farid and Dustfinger) check to see if this is a game or not. There is a war and the good side wins. Unfortunately, Farid is found dead. Of course, Meggie is heartbroken. Dustfinger remembers a stroy about a fire-eater bring back his son to life. He sees if the story is true. Dustfinger gives his own life to the White women in exchange for Farid's life. Farid comes back to life and Dustfinger is gone... like forever. But is it forever? Farid's prayers will be answered later. Inkspell is the captivating 2nd book of the trilogy. Fenoglio realises that the Inkworld isn't under control anymore- no-one can change it's future. Death seems to be playing with the character's lives. It isn't made out of Fenoglio's words anymore. The book is still kind of confusing because there is a lot going on, but all the same, it is an imaginative and a thrilling book.

Do i look like i care?

This is a story which is continued from the story, Cringe. This story is about Amaryllis who continues to go out with Tarquin who later she finds out that he is also one of those "typical boys" who only think about themselves and that the girl is like an item which they can use any time. Amaryllis still dreams about herself being successful and rich when se grows up. She continues to be "glamorous" with her best friend, Xanthe. They continue to decorate their plain T shirts with glitter, fluff and felt tips. The illustrations didn't convince me that the shirts looked good because of the illustrations. If it was real life, i wouldn't hang around them. Just saying. Anyways, Amaryllis also continues to be embarraced by her family such as her dad who paints her in a frock, not the fab dress that she said that she wanted to be painted in. At the same time, her mum keeps writing embarracing poems and reads them out with her dangly earrings which Amaryllis calls them chandelliers. At the end, after Tarquin gets dumped, he waits at the doorstep but Amaryllis just decides to leave him there until he decides to leave himself. (girl power!) :)

Cringe!

Cringe is a story about a girl named Amaryllis who was born to be a star, according to what she said. While she follows her path to fame, there are obstacles, of course, and guess what? One of them is her embarrassing family. Her freaky dad who wears his sandals all year round and paints half- naked pictures of women who look like her mum…! Next, her mum who wears dangly earrings every day and writes poetry- for fun! Her mum really embarrasses Amaryllis with her old fashioned mind and taste. She also has two brothers- Ben and Hugo. Hugo is a nerd who LIKES homework and Ben is a part of a band called GOB. In the group, there is a guy who Amaryllis likes. He, just like Ben, left school right after his GCSEs. Then there’s Tarquin. He is Jake’s younger brother who likes Amaryllis. He never showed that until right at the end when he asked her out on a date on her birthday…! Amaryllis also doodled what she would look like in the future. You can see in the pictures that she has strong beliefs that she will be beautiful and rich when she grows up. She also has a best friend, Xanthe who always seems to have a better life then hers. She had rich and good looking parents, a mum with a great sense of fashion and a HUGEEEEE house. Finally, at Amaryllis’ birthday party, all of her family members and Xanthe comes but so does Tarquin! He gives her a phone cover to go with her new phone. She was so delighted! That day, according to her, was the best day of her life.
