Kayla, an average girl in the year 2027, experiences great pains and suffers he greatest things ou could ever imagine.
First, this Barcode tattoo comes 'barging' into her life and kills her father mysteriously. Next, her mother turns alchaholic,- taking drugs and drinking until she feels unconcious. But there was a bright side too. She met this group called the 'Decode' who was againt bar code tattoos. In that group, there was Zekal, who she falls in love with which motivaes him to dump Nedra nd come to Kayla. Kayla, since she joined the group, said that she would never get a tattoo but she had to before she turned 18 or it would be committing a crime and she would have to go to jail or worse, be sentenced to death. After a while, she finds out that Zekal, her love, betrayed he group- he was a double agent. He was working fo tatto gen- the company which made the tattoo. He was sent on a mission to seduce people to get the tattoo. Kayla was their next victim. She couldn't stay there anymore so she runs away, changing her appearance eery time she gets the chance. She finally arrives at a place called Whitefaced Mountain which Kayla has visioned at times. There, she meets Mfumble, another member of the group, who also ran away because of the barcode tattoo. They soon fall in love with each other, at the same time, also discovering new powers that they never knew they had, like healing people with teir minds and being able to see other people no mater how far apart they are.
I think this story is like a warning to everyone that if people don't get to have their own individuality, some people might turn out like this- hurt, betrayed and felling like you just lost everything.
I didn't really understand the last part though. It didn't make sense to me. It was quite random.
Something like this comes out in the bible- when humn beings start to have lines and numbers that represent the number 666, the world will collapse and fall apart.
I liked this book because i like horror books wich have a thrill.
